Multi-client capability
With IQ4docs, you can operate an installation with several clients. Each client has its own data and system settings, i.e. only sees their own data (e.g. devices, users...) and system settings (mail server settings, login options...). For each client, it almost seems as if they have their own IQ4docs installation, but in reality it is only one IQ4docs installation that the clients share.

A multi-client installation is initially based on a normal IQ4docs installation. The client management is then installed. The clients are then created in the client management, which can be used in the web browser just like the IQ4docs WebAdmin.
With a special URL that is given to the client, the client can then open their own WebAdmin (see Edit client). This looks almost exactly like a normal IQ4docs installation (see also Requirements and Restrictions).
In technical terms, the data are stored in the same database but in completely separate collections. Accordingly, there is no cross-client view in which, for example, all users of all clients would be visible. However, the client manager can view all settings of a given client at any time.

A client does not need to take care of all the system settings (e.g. the URL specification, location of files...). This is all set in the client management and applies to all clients. These settings are not available in the client's WebAdmin, see Open the WebAdmin of the client.

A very important requirement is that the clients have different IP address ranges (for devices and the computers that send a print job to the IQ4docs system), see Edit client.
An IP address (device or print server) is therefore always assigned to exactly one client, overlaps are not possible. When a user prints via a printer queue, his print is identified by the IP address of the print server and his login and is thereby assigned to the user.

The WebAdmin of a client contains almost all settings that a normal IQ4docs installation also has. The following settings are different.

In the client environment, the use of E-MailPrint and WebPrint is not possible.

The client administrator decides which ports are used on the installation computer. However, the ports are available for all clients, see Print ports. In the WebAdmin of a client, a print input for RAW ports cannot be freely created; instead, a workflow can only be assigned to a predefined port, see Print Inputs (RAW, LPR, IPP, e-mail, folder).

Document processing (document inputs) cannot be used in a client installation, see also Document processing.

The use of system-wide PC-to-direct printer links is not possible in a client environment, see also Direct printer.

A multi-client capable license is required for a client installation. There is no demo license for a client installation. If you would like to test a client environment, please get in touch with your IQ4docs contact, see Licensing a client installation.
