Administrative identifiers
Administrative identifiers are used to restrict the view of objects. For example, if there are several locations, it makes sense for users and administrators to be able to see only the devices of their own location. An administrative identifier is any term that can be assigned to objects. An administrative identifier can be assigned to the following objects:
- Devices
- Users
In the WebClient, users can only see devices that have the same administrative identifiers as they themselves have. Administrators can have several administrative identifiers whose objects they can see - they are a setting in an administrator role, see Role Management.

The administrative identifier is stored in the user's administrative identifier field. Only one identifier can be specified, see Create User.
The administrative identifier can also be imported based on group membership in the directory service, see LDAP Import.

The administrative identifier is stored in the device's administrative identifier field. Only one identifier can be specified, see Add devices.
The administrative identifier can also be specified when importing devices from a CSV file, see Adding devices via device import.

A user becomes an administrator once he has a role and a password. To find out how to assign a role and an administrative identifier, see Role Management.
