Apply print rule module
If the Print Rule module occurs in a workflow, the changes set there are made to the print job. This is done by changing the changeable settings in the print file (.prn file). Which changes are possible depends to a large extent on the description language used. Learn more under Print rules.
In a print@me print workflow, the module should be placed before The Print Job List Module, otherwise the changes will not be visible on the device display. The module must be placed before Send print job module, otherwise it will no longer be executed.
If the module is used more than once in a workflow, the changes of an option from the last print rule module passed are used. For example, if the color and duplex are changed in the first module and only duplex (color is set to Do not change) in the second, the color change from the first module and the duplex change from the second module are used.
If a print rule is only integrated into the workflow or changed after a print job has been sent, this has no effect on print jobs already in the system.

The module can occur several times in the workflow.

The placement of the module is not restricted. However, different effects result depending on at which points the module is used.

The module can be connected to all modules (this can result in nonsensical workflows).

Any descriptive name of the print rule (used in the notification e-mail, for example).

The user can be notified by e-mail when a print job they have received has been modified by a rule. The e-mail is sent when the print rule module is passed.

Apply print rule on all print jobs: When this setting is set, the Keyword area is disabled. The print rule is applied to all incoming print jobs.
Keyword: Name of any keyword or word fragment that occurs in the readable area of the print job. If the keyword is not set, the print rule is not applied to any print job. This field cannot be edited if the Apply print rule to all print jobs option is enabled.

Select the color setting to be applied to the print job. If the print job was originally set to color and the default setting in the print rule is black and white, the user can switch back to color on the device and receive a color print. If black/white has already been set in the driver, switching to color is no longer possible.

When the rule is applied to a print job, the duplex setting originally intended for printing is replaced by the setting entered here.

When the rule is applied to a print job, the setting for punching originally intended for printing is replaced by the setting entered here.

Outputs only the page range specified here (format: 3-8). Only pages that are contained in the print data stream transferred to IQ4docs can be considered. For example, if the driver outputs pages 5-8 in a 10-page document, only these 4 pages (5,6,7,8) are transferred to IQ4docs. These then count as pages 1-4 and are applied with the rule. If you define that only pages 1-2 should be printed, pages 5 and 6 of the original print document will be printed. If you do not want to restrict the pages, leave the field empty.

If this setting is set, the user on a device with Embedded Client has the possibility to change the properties of the print job that were changed by a rule back (to what they were), see Editing Print Jobs.

The print service accepts and analyses print jobs. It also checks the user rights when printing. It also sends the print data to the device. Its log file is Logs\PrintService.log.

If a message (e.g. an e-mail) is to be sent, this is done by the NotificationService, which transmits the message to the desired SMTP server (also fax e-mails when a fax server is used). Its log file is Logs\NotificationService.log.
