Printer assignment module
The Printer Assignment module can be used to assign a direct printer to a PC name. In the module, PC names can be assigned to every existing printer. When a user prints from his PC-C3PO computer, the module checks whether this hostname is assigned to a device. If so, this printer is used as a direct printer for the user.
The assignment with this module does not take place if the direct printer has already been set (e.g. by the user's direct print setting or by an entry on the separator page), see also Direct Print.

The module can occur several times in the workflow.

The placement of the module is not restricted. However, different effects result depending on at which points the module is used.

The module can be connected to all modules (this can result in nonsensical workflows).

No restrictive modules.

The table shows all devices that have been created in the system. The name and hostname are displayed in the Printer field.
Filter: The Filter field above the table can be used to search for devices and hostnames.
Hostnames: Enter the hostnames of the user computers that are to be assigned this printer as a direct printer. To create a hostname, enter it in the Hostname field and press the Enter key - the hostname will be highlighted in color (items not confirmed with Enter will not be saved)
If a hostname occurs more than once, the first entry found is used. If the desired printer is not assigned, you can use the filter to search for the hostname concerned and find any duplicate entries.

The DeviceService is responsible for the communication with the devices. It also generates page contents displayed on the device (visible interface of the Embedded Client). In addition, it carries out the licensing of the system and requires Internet access for online licensing. Its log file is Logs\DeviceService.log.
