Embedded Client installation on Lexmark devices
The Embedded Client (device app) can be installed, activated and configured automatically by IQ4docs, but it is also possible to install and activate it with external programs or directly on the device.
Note that a suitable device license must be available for operating the device with Embedded Client, see Licensing.

All LEXMARK printing systems are supported for the print function. The following systems and BSD Line equivalents are supported for the use of an Embedded Client.
- Technology: LEXMARK eSF
- Application: Embedded Application
- Installation: Remote installation and configuration
- Lexmark Universal v2 XL Printer Driver

If the devices are in the as-delivered state, most settings can be configured automatically by IQ4docs. A few must be set manually.

The following setting cannot be made automatically by IQ4docs and must therefore be set manually via the web interface of the device:
Options > Settings > Copy:
- Copy from - Size: Auto Format Detection
- Copy to - Source: Auto Format Match

The following settings are made automatically:
- A user admin with the password admin is created on the device (Options > Settings > Security, area Local Accounts, here Add User.).
- The public user is deprived of all rights except Reports, Print b/w and Print Color (Options > Settings > Security, area Public, here, Permissions Denied).
- The IQ4docs DeviceClient is set as the default login method.

The card reader driver is automatically installed by IQ4docs. If this cannot be done automatically or if you need a different card reader driver, install it via the device web interface.
Configuration via the WebAdmin only works if the public user has the required rights (this is the case in the as-delivered state) and no other user is created in the device.

Observe the following instructions to ensure that the Embedded Client runs correctly on the device.

Before using the Embedded Client with a Kyocera device, make sure the following settings are made:
- Energy saving standby mode: Full standby
- Deactivate switch-off rule for
- Network
- USB cable
- USB Host
- Applications
If problems occur with these settings (e.g. the menu of the device is not loaded fully), it may help to change the settings, restart the machine, change them back to the correct values and restart the machine again.
- Set U parameter 346
- Set Timer/Sleep Level to Less Energy Save
- Auto Sleep to Off
- Timer settings: Each of the following timers automatically logs out the user from the device when the timer expires. Set the time periods as desired:
- Control panel reset timer: Starts after the last touch of the device screen, runs out even if the device is still printing or scanning - the current job is not interrupted, but no further jobs are started (e.g. in case someone wants to print all their print jobs).
- Energy saving timer: Starts after the device completes one operation (printing, scanning...).
- Sleep timer: Starts after the device completes one operation (printing, scanning, etc.).
The Embedded Client for several devices can be installed and activated simultaneously via the IQ4docs device list. To do so, proceed as follows.

To open the web administration, enter http://<hostname>/webadmin in the web browser (where hostname corresponds to the server on which IQ4docs WebAdmin was installed).

In the web administration, click Devices > Device List in the menu. The list appears showing all devices that have already been added to the system manually or via the device search (see also Device List).

- Select one or more devices with the checkbox at the beginning of the line.
- Click the Configure Devices drop-down list and select Install Embedded Client.
- You will be asked to select the installation package (after installation, the file is located in the installation directory under assets/kyocera-device-client or assets/lexmark-device-client (marked with the version number).
- Once the installation package has been selected, it is installed and activated on the selected devices. In addition, the devices are also immediately set up for IQ4docs.
- Once the process has been successfully completed and the list view has been reloaded with the Refresh button
, the device is marked with a green dot.
The installation only works if the manufacturer of the device is known. Check the Manufacturer entry in the detailed data record of the device if the installation fails.
The Embedded Client is transferred via RAW for the installation. If the RAW print protocol is disabled in the device, the Embedded Client cannot be installed via the WebAdmin.
If the Embedded Client has been installed in any other way (e.g. via USB stick), only the configuration can be sent to the device. To do so, select Set Up Device For IQ4docs.

The installation of the DeviceClient described below takes place via the device's own web interface.

Enter the hostname or IP address of the device in a modern web browser and log in as the administrator.

In order to perform the installation, you must have administrator privileges on the device.
- Under Select Option, open the Apps item.
- In the Apps area, open the Installed Apps item.
- Click Install App.
- Select the installation package assets/lexmark-device-client/lexmarkdeviceclient.fls from the directory system (the actual file has a version number).
- Click Install. After a few moments, installation of the application will be completed.
- The application is started automatically and still needs to be configured.
- You configure the Embedded Client in the IQ4docs device list. To do so, select Set Up Device For IQ4docs.

You uninstall the Embedded Client via the web interface of the device. Enter the hostname or IP address of the device in a modern web browser and log in as the administrator.
- In the Installed Apps area, select the IQ4docs DeviceClient.
- In the area that opens, click the Uninstall button.
